Clean Up Australia Day 2024

This Sunday, 3 March, marks Clean Up Australia Day 2024, and Yamaha Motor Australia is proud to join in celebrating this important event. As part of our commitment to fostering a cleaner environment and supporting sustainability initiatives, we recognise the invaluable contributions of two organisations supported by Yamaha Motor Australia: the Seabin Project and Outback Cleanups Australia. These organisations are integral parts of Yamaha Motor Australia's Rightwaters Initiatives.

Clean Up Australia Day originated in 1989 when Ian Kiernan and Kim McKay rallied over 40,000 volunteers to tackle the scourge of litter, collecting an astounding 5000 tonnes of rubbish across our urban and rural landscapes. This remarkable achievement, before the age of social media, laid the foundation for a movement that has since blossomed into a nationwide effort, collaborating with businesses, community groups, and government entities to forge a more sustainable future.

While the primary objective of Clean Up Australia Day remains the removal of waste from our environment, the organisation now also strongly emphasises sustainability, recognising the importance of safeguarding our natural heritage for generations to come. While individual efforts are the cornerstone of Clean Up Australia, companies with Sustainable Development Goals and a steadfast Long Term Vision play a pivotal role in leading by example throughout the year.

At Yamaha Motor Company, we are committed to addressing environmental concerns through a multifaceted approach encompassing energy conservation, pollution prevention, waste reduction, and resource conservation across our core business operations. Our Environmental Plan 2050 sets a clear target of achieving net-zero CO2 emissions (carbon neutrality) by 2050 for the entire product lifecycle.

As we celebrate Clean Up Australia Day 2024, let us reaffirm our collective commitment to preserving our planet and creating a cleaner, healthier future for all.
