Celebrating Our Yamaha Staff On IWD

International Women's Day 8 March 2023

Yamaha Motor Australia would like to wish a happy International Woman's Day to all the women who deliver inspiration and guidance to others. First observed in 1911, and now celebrated annually on 8 March, International Women's Day is a global celebration that casts a spotlight on the social, business, cultural, sporting, and political achievements of women from all walks of life.

While every day of the year should be taken as an opportunity to celebrate the women in your life, business or personal, International Women’s Day is set aside to collectively honour their achievements.

There are many ways individuals, groups, and businesses will choose to celebrate IWD, for Yamaha Motor Australia, the day is an opportunity to recognise the success and contribution of all women associated with the Yamaha brand. These include members of our management team and staff, our Yamaha racers and ambassadors, and our female customers whose embracement of our recreational products continues to grow.

Reflecting on International Women’s Day, Yamaha Motor Australia Group Managing Director, Mr Tom Okamoto, highlighted the valuable contribution made by female Yamaha staff to the continued success of the brand. “Not only is it the corporate responsibility of Yamaha Motor to ensure gender equality exists within the workplace, but we also recognise and appreciate the crucial contribution women make to the success of Yamaha Motor around the globe, as leaders, staff, and brand ambassadors,” he said. “International Women’s Day provides us with an opportunity to thank all of them for their contribution and support. We appreciate their endeavours.”

Sharing their thoughts on International Women's Day Yamaha Motor Australia Senior General Managers Kelly Fraser and Megan Veness agreed that the the changing face of the female workforce has been most noticeable over the past five years.

Kelly Fraser, Senior General Manager for Yamaha Financial Services: “I am proud to work alongside what I believe are the most passionate, dedicated and capable females in the industry." and added a favourite quote from Sheryl Sandberg, “I look forward to a future where there will be no female leaders, there will just be leaders.”

Megan Veness, Senior General Manager – Operations: “We are now seeing a lot more women take on traditionally male-dominated roles in the office and warehouse. This supports a diversity in our thinking by allowing different perspectives to be considered, leading to new ideas and approaches. It is an exciting time. “

To mark International Women’s Day 2023, Yamaha Motor offices around Australia and across New Zealand were asked to submit a photograph of the women who are building a pathway for future generations to follow. We hope you enjoy these images from Yamaha Motor Australia and Yamaha Motor New Zealand, and we wish you all a wonderful International Women's Day and look forward to continuing the Yamaha journey with you.
